Copyright renewals for 1970

Copyright renewals made in 1970 will be available from this page. Renewals in 1970 were classified by category.

Original copyrights date from 1942 and 1943. 1942 copyrights could also be renewed in 1969, and 1943 copyrights could also be renewed in 1971.

The following types of renewal records will be available here:

To see if a book can go online, you may have to check not only the "Books" category, but also the "periodicals" category, if parts of the book first appeared in a periodical, and the "artwork" category if you want to scan any of the illustrations. If the book is a play, check the "Drama" category too.

Copyright renewals also exist for music, film, commercial prints, and certain other categories. We have no immediate plans to digitize these, since we're mainly interested in book renewals at this point. If you want to digitize these, though, contact onlinebooks@pobox.upenn.edu.

A guide to abbreviations used in the records is now available. Other introductory information may be available soon.

More images, and text or HTML transcriptions, gladly accepted. Images should be in GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or PDF form, and not much bigger than 500K per page.
