I don't know if this is really relavent to this group or not, but I am
having trouble with an analyzation of Rip Van Winkle. You see, my
professor is an emphatic lecturer who believes his students should stick
to his perceptions of a particular passage. As all college students know,
many professors are like this. I do not have a problem with him and he is
a great teacher. However, when it comes to grading papers he is a bit
trite. He doesn't agree with my particular flamboyance and creativity when
I analyze a piece of work. I have called upon ya'll because I believe this
mailing list is composed of the most well read individuals in academia. I
beg of you for your opinions. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The assignment is:
Explain how "Rip Van Winkle" is an allegorical story. Be Specific.
Use specific passages from the text.
The paper is to be three to four pages.
As I said before, it would be beneficial to me to hear from others and to
gain different perspectives from them. Again, any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Helplessly yours,
Jason Horton
