Admin: Moderator break, and some notes on current threads

I will be off visiting family for about a week starting on Friday. I
expect to have some Net connectivity during that time, but posts
received after Thursday may be delayed by as much as a few days.

Actually, even now posts are going through more slowly than they're
being submitted, since I'm needing to be at some training sessions during
this week that take up much of the day. I'm caught up on the current
thread now, and I don't expect posts to be delayed for more than 24 hours
through Thursday, but at any given time during the day, there may be posts
on a thread you haven't seen yet.

While this may interrupt the flow of conversation a bit, it also
hopefully gives people the chance to reflect on what they've seen,
and decide on what best to say to move the conversation forward.
There have been some good points made on a number of sides of the
current debates. There's also been a general rise in the temperature
of some of the threads which in some cases has resulted in submissions
(not all of which have been passed through) that end up missing what
I presume to be their targets, or exploding onto people (and not just
their arguments) or onto arguments that have not actually been made.
As usual, I'll tighten moderation where this proves necessary, but
I hope that people can do much of the work themselves on focusing their
arguments where they need to go.

Thanks!
