UpLib beta testers wanted

I'm happy to say that PARC has decided to release an open source
version of the UpLib personal digital library system. While we figure
out the mechanics of the release, I'm looking for a few beta testers.
We've been using UpLib internally at PARC for about four years, but
would like to see what assumptions we've made about environments that
just don't work outside PARC.

If you've never heard of UpLib, it's sort of a cross between
MyLifeBits and Delicious Library (with, I'm sure, apologies to both of
those great projects :-), with strong Memex leanings... For more
details, read some of the papers at <http://www.parc.com/janssen/pubs/>,
starting with <http://www.parc.com/janssen/pubs/TR-03-16.pdf>.

If you think you'd be a great beta tester for UpLib, drop me a note
saying why. I should warn that building UpLib from source is not for
the faint of heart -- lots of prerequisites. We'd like comments back
on environment issues, the construction of our installers for the
various platforms, etc. Particularly Windows, which I don't
personally know much about. I'll probably send out a beta in a couple
of weeks, once I've figured out how to externalize the bug database,
etc.
