  Well, well, ... all good things come to an end.

  It's been a very stimulating list, even or perhaps especially in cases
of disagreements. It has been one of the top five mailing lists
in my mail-reader since it started: I've always (well, I should probably
be honest with myself: almost always) looked forward to see what new things
would appear today.

  I'm a little sorry to see it a go, but I much rather see it shut down gently,
like this, than gradually dissolve into some kind of limbo.

  So thanks for the time you've invested in maintaining and moderating the
list, John.  Good luck with future endeavours.

  My thanks also to all listmembers, who have, in various ways, made it a
very individual, recognizable and 'homey' mailing list.
