Our Newsletter editor unexpectedly lost his connection
and cannot send the Newsletters these next few weeks.
I will NOT try to duplicate his wonderful efforts, but
WILL try to guesstimate our production up to now for a
message going out tomorrow, I hope.
I will also try to put together a few articles, and I,
along with everyone else, will be very glad when Mike
Cook has returned to virtual life in about 3 weeks.
Meanwhile, here is the last graph of our production:
If the margins are too broken by the mailers, let me
know and I will resend as an attachment.
Thanks!!!

Yearly Project Gutenberg Progress Report
Yearly Project Gutenberg Progress Report
For The Year of 2007: November 23, 2007
/mydownloads2/graph.25.5k.txt.new
As most of you know I tend to start my yearly Project Gutenberg reviews a
month and a week before the end of the year, which is most appropriate in
light of the fact that "The Book People" discussion group will be gone at
the end of this month.
Luckily, we have just passed the 25,500 mark for eBooks produced as per a
more or less "internal" Project Gutenberg methodology, so there is really
a new graph to send out now, in addition to the 75,000+ eBooks donated to
Project Gutenberg from "external" production and maintenance facilities--
for a grand total of over 100,000.
Please note tht for the first time I have extended these report margins--
so you might have to widen your margins to avoid linebreaks. mh
Here is the current graph of Project Gutenberg progress from 10 to 25,500
Please note: the > is the actual point on the graph, marked in quarters.
Note: We have just entered the 4th quarter of 2007 and reached 25,500 of
the books created via the various Project Gutenberg systems since 1971.
Many of these entries are from The Project Gutenberg Weekly Newsletters--
usually coming out on Wednesdays, hence most of the totals are overage of
more books having been completed before the next Wednesday. There aren't
always exactly daily counts, so some of the non-Wednesdays are estimates,
as to the exact day, not to mention time zone.
At various times in our history we added:
August, 2001, Project Gutenberg of Australia, now approaching 1600 eBooks.
January, 2006, Project Gutenberg of Europe, now approaching 500 eBooks.
January, 2006, Project Gutenberg Preprint Site, now approaching 500 eBooks.
July 1, 2007, Project Gutenberg of Canada, just started this year.
Project Gutenberg of Chinese, just starting now.
The Two Americas Project, just starting now.
Don't forget 75,000+ more eBooks donated to Project Gutenberg are at:

[Book People Moderator: The top part of this graph seems to have wrapped
before it got to me, and I'm not sure how to fix it, so I'll leave
it as is. - JMO]

Please note that many duplications have been detected and
removed, between
the various Project Gutenberg sites between 2006 and 2007, so the
curve is
appearing somewhat less for 2007 than under the old accounting
system.
