Special Correspondence.
Nation. 9/15/1881, Vol. 33 Issue 846, p212-214. 3p.
The article presents political and social updates of the world, as of September 15, 1881. Thus far the platform of the German Government for the coming elections has been rather obscure and indefinite; abstruse phrases and glittering generalities occupying the ground of positive political demands and unequivocal measures. In another update, last summer Colonel Charles George Gordon's private letters to members of his family, and public documents concerning his administration in Central Africa , were, with Colonel Gordon's consent, placed in the hands of the author of the book "Colonel Gordon in Central Africa . 1874-1879," who, personally unacquainted with Colonel Gordon, was informed that Colonel Gordon would neither see nor correspond with him until the book was finished and before the world.

Strategic Survey; 2013, Vol. 113 Issue 1, p247-280, 34p
The article presents a summary of events in politics and government in Africa from July 2012-2013. A contradiction is discussed between an improving rate of economic development in African countries and an increase in political instability in many countries. The intervention of France in Mali, political violence in Nigeria and a coup d'etat in Central African Republic are among the examples cited of the latter.
