Departemen Penerangan dibubarkan pada era presiden Abdurrahmah Wahid. Pembubaran Departemen Penerangan waktu itu dimaksudkan untuk meberikan kebebasan berpikir kepada masyarakat, dengan cara mengalihkan kontrol media kepada masyarakat secara langsung sesuai dengan amanat Undang-undang (UU) Pers Tahun 1999. Dalam UU Pers tersebut, masyarakat dapat melakukan kegiatan memantau dan melaporkan pelanggaran hukum, etika, dan kekeliruan teknis pemberitaan kepada Dewan Pers. Masyarakat yang melek media mengunakan mandat dari UU Pers tersebut untuk melaporkan berita-berita di media yang kerap kali melakukan objektifikasi terhadap perempuan dalam bentuk eksploitasi seksual atau cabul. Guna menunjang aktifitas masyarakat yang melek media tersebut, pengabdian masyarakat ini berupaya membantu membuat media monitoring tools yang dapat mengkurasikan berita-berita terindikasi melakukan praktik objektifikasi terhadap perempuan secara otomatis, serta penyuluhan terkait objektifikasi perempuan. Hasilnya, Dewan Pers dan masyarakat melek media sebagai penerima manfaat pengabdian dapat melakukan pemantauan berita-berita terindikasi objektifikasi perempuan yang telah terkurasi dalam satu wadah di https://distorsimediamonitoring.web.app/.

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap adanya objektifikasi dan resiliensi perempuan di dalam novel Perempuan Bayangan karya Netty Virgiantini. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan April 2021. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan pendekatan kritik sastra feminis. Data berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat dari objek penelitian dipilih dengan teknik simak-catat setelah melalui pembacaan tertutup. Data kemudian diklasifikasi, diinterpretasi, dan dikaji dengan teori yang relevan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perempuan rentan mengalami objektifikasi, sebagaimana yang dialami oleh tokoh utama perempuan, Ningrum. Objektifikasi tersebut dilakukan oleh orangtua yang memaksanya untuk menikah, kedua calon mertuanya yang menolaknya karena tidak dapat memberikan keturunan, Satria yang memanfaatkannya untuk menghilangkan kesepian dan melampiaskan hasrat seksual, dan arwah Utari yang mengharapkannya menjadi istri pengganti. Tokoh perempuan tersebut menyikapi objektifikasi dengan resiliensi secara verbal dan juga dalam bentuk tindakan aktif. KATA KUNCI: kritik sastra feminis; Netty Virgiantini, objektifikasi; perempuan; resiliensi OBJECTIVES AND WOMEN'S RESILIENCE IN NETTY VIRGIANTINI's NOVEL PEREMPUAN BAYANGAN ABSTRACT: This study aims to reveal the objectification and resilience of women in the novel Perempuan Bayangan by Netty Virgiantini. This research was conducted in April 2021. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with a feminist literary criticism approach. Data in the form of words, phrases, and sentences from the research object were selected using the note-taking technique after going through closed reading. The data are then classified, interpreted, and reviewed with relevant theories. The results of this study indicate that women are prone to objectification, as experienced by the main female character, Ningrum. The objectification was carried out by her parents (who forced her to marry), her two prospective parents-in-law (who rejected her because she was unable to give offspring), Satria (who used her to get rid of loneliness and indulge sexual desires), and the spirit of Utari (who expected her to become a substitute wife). The female character responds to objectification with resilience verbally and also in the form of active action. REINTERPRETASI ISLAM INTEGRATIF (OBJEKTIFIKASI DELIBERATIF ISLAM DI RUANG PUBLIK)

Reinterpretation of the integration between faith and its practice, as mentioned in Qur’an and hadis, is very significant to apply in plural society differentiated in many identities and various primordial affiliations. Its significance lies not only on reformulating teoritically the concept of integrative Islam, but also in practical how it is realized in context of plural society. The fact that the texts of al-Qur’an and hadis always put together faith and good deed in one semantic area, shows a strong connection between faith and good deed that each concept serves as a means of definition of others. This means that the integration between faith and social practice is a must both in theological and sociological perspectives. In addition, plural ethics can serve as ethical basis in perceiving plural social reality and actively, well, and wisely participating in public sphere. Meanwhile, in respect with the mechanism in public sphere, Kuntowijoyo’s concept of objectivity of religion and that of Jurgen Habermas’s public deliberation can be taken as theoretical frame in reinterpreting religious values and teachings as well as their realization in public sphere. Through these two concepts, religious values and teachings can be implemented in public space and partake an active participation in constructing nation identity without causing social disintegration resulted from domination and subordination of certain religious symbols or values. Since social consensus resulted from deliberation is a communal ratio, it is no longer an individual or personal one, but it is a collective ratio that represents collective interest. By this mechanism, religious values and teachings can be performed in contestation of public discourse without being trapped in exclusivism policy and domination-subordination logics. Reinterpretasi integrasi antara iman dan praksis sebagaimana terdapat dalam al-Qur’an dan hadis, sangat signifikan dilakukan dalam konteks pluralitas masyarakat yang terdiferensiasi dalam berbagai identitas dan beragam afiliasi primordial. Signifikansi ini tidak hanya terletak pada perlunya reformulasi konsepsi Islam integratif saja, tapi juga bagaimana integrasi tersebut direalisasikan dalam konteks masyarakat yang plural. Merujuk pada teks al-Qur’an dan hadis yang selalu menempatkan iman dan amal salih dalam satu medan semantik, ini menunjukkan bahwa relasi antara iman dan amal salih sangat kuat, sehingga masing-masing konsep menjadi alat definisi bagi eksistensi konsep lainnya. Hal ini bermakna bahwa integrasi iman dan praksis sosial merupakan sebuah keniscayaan tidak hanya secara teologis tapi juga secara sosiologis. Selain itu, afirmasi Islam terhadap pluralitas etik dapat menjadi landasan etis dalam memandang realitas sosial yang plural dan berpartisipasi aktif di ruang publik secara baik dan bijak. Sementara terkait dengan mekanisme partisipasi di ruang publik, konsep objektifikasi agama-nya Kuntowijoyo dan deliberasi publik-nya Jurgen Habermas dapat dijadikan sebagai kerangka teoritis dalam melakukan reinterpretasi nilai dan ajaran agama dan realisasinya di ruang publik. Dengan model objektifikasi deliberatif ini, nilai-nilai dan ajaran agama dapat diimplementasikan dalam kehidupan publik dan berperan aktif dalam konstruksi identitas bangsa, tanpa harus menciptakan disintegrasi sosial karena adanya dominasi atau subordinasi simbol atau nilai agama tententu. Oleh karena konsensus sosial yang dihasilkan dalam deliberasi tersebut bersifat rasio bersama, maka ia tidak lagi menjadi rasio individual personal tapi rasio kolektif yang sekaligus mewakili dan menjadi kepentingan bersama. Dengan mekanisme ini, nilai dan ajaran Islam (agama) dapat dipentaskan dalam kontestasi diskursus publik secara ramah, tanpa harus terjebak dalam politik ekslusivisme dan logika dominasi-subordinasi.

This study focuses on the meanings and stereotypes attached to women as the lyrics of campursari songs. There are three campursari songs that are the object of this research, the three songs are Angge-angge Orong-orong and Njaluk Kelon by Ratna Antika and Bukak Bungkus by Didi Kempot. Where the three songs in many ways show the objectification of the female body in the lyrics. To explore the three songs, the researcher used a qualitative approach, with an exploratory method. Based on the topics discussed, the researcher uses linguistic discourse with the M.A.K Halliday approach. Discourse analysis was chosen because the research will focus on the context of language production. This research produces three discourses, namely the objectification of discourse where in the three songs women are only seen as something that has a sexual function only, where women's bodies are exploited and equated with mentioning names of objects to animals. The widow's discourse, where the songs Angge-angge Orong-orong and Njaluk Kelon in the lyrics give a stigma that widows are troublesome because they have given birth to children from previous marriages, besides that widows are also considered to have more sexual abilities than virgins. Finally, the discourse of sexual relations. In the three songs, both implicitly and explicitly classify sexual relations into two categories, namely legal and illegal sexual relations. The Madrasa Resistance Against Radicalism

The background of this article is based on madrasa resistance to radicalism. The purpose of this study is to see how madrasa resistance to face radicalism. The type of this research is qualitative research and data collection methods with observation and in-depth interviews with selected respondents. This study uses Peter L Berger's theory of the fundamental dialectics of society-externalization, objectification, and internalization. The results showed that madrasa resistance to radicalism with social empowerment through the process of social construction (externalization, objectification, and internalization). The tolerant attitude of the community which is manifested in social humanitarian activities such as genduri, sambatan and kerja bakti is contracted by the madrasa as a subjective reality into objective reality, so that the anti-radicalism attitude in this society can become the norm for the madrasas to be deprived and implemented in the daily life of the madrasa. Abstrak Latar belakang artikel ini didasarkan pada resistensi madrasah terhadap radikalisme. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana cara madrasah menghadapi radikalisme. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dan metode pengumpulan data dengan observasi dan wawancara mendalam kepada responden terpilih. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Peter L.Berger tentang dialektika fundamental masyarakat-eksternalisasi, objektifikasi dan internalisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa madrasah menolak radikalisme dengan pemberdayaan sosial melalui proses konstruksi sosial (eksternalisasi, objektifikasi dan internalisasi). Sikap toleran dari masyarakat yang dimanifestasikan dalam kegiatan sosial kemanusiaan seperti genduri, sambatan dan kerja bakti dikontrak oleh madrasah sebagai realitas subjektif ke dalam realitas objektif, sehingga sikap anti-radikalisme dalam masyarakat ini dapat menjadi norma bagi madrasah untuk dicabut dan diimplementasikan di kehidupan sehari-hari madrasah.

NARRATION AND DISCOURSE OF BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA IN INDONESIAN REVISED HISTORY TEXTBOOK: A HISTORY DIDACTICS APPROACH

The presented research depicts the narration and discourse of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in the history subject. By using history didactic approach, this research focuses on two dimensions of analysis: (1) the narration and discourse of the history textbook and (2) teachers’ interpretation as well as objectification towards the discourse of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in the history textbook. The Socio-cognitive discourse analysis was used as the research method and attitude. The corpus of analysis was the revised edition of the compulsory history textbook published by The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture, and the research participants are 15 teachers of Senior High Schools in Surakarta. The remarkable finding of this research is the unequal position between unity and diversity. This research exposes that the textbook posits the narration and discourse of unity above the sense of diversity. These narrations and discourse are confirmed by the most of research participants in which they tend to articulate the importance of unity and integration in their interpretation. Following this interpretation, the teachers’ objectification is postulated in some attitudes such as patriotic, mutual-cooperation, and solidarity, led to the ideology of nationalism. The authors highlighted the unequal position between unity and diversity as the crucial problem in the textbook narration and discourse that, in certain degrees, could become a latent problem for the national integration, such as minority intolerance and annihilation. Keywords: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, history textbook, unity above diversity Penelitian ini menggambarkan narasi dan wacana Bhinneka Tunggal Ika dalam mata pelajaran sejarah. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan didaktik sejarah, penelitian ini berfokus pada dua dimensi analisis: (1) narasi dan wacana buku teks sejarah dan (2) interpretasi guru serta objektifikasi terhadap wacana Bhinneka Tunggal Ika dalam buku teks sejarah. Analisis wacana sosial-kognitif digunakan sebagai metode dan sikap penelitian. Analisis teks menggunakan edisi revisi dari buku teks sejarah wajib yang diterbitkan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia, dan peserta penelitian adalah 15 guru Sekolah Menengah Atas di Surakarta. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah posisi yang tidak setara antara persatuan dan keanekaragaman. Penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa buku teks menempatkan narasi dan wacana persatuan di atas rasa keberagaman. Narasi dan wacana ini dikonfirmasi oleh sebagian besar peserta penelitian di mana mereka cenderung mengartikulasikan pentingnya persatuan dan integrasi dalam interpretasi mereka. Setelah interpretasi ini, objektifikasi guru dipostulatkan dalam beberapa sikap seperti patriotik, gotong royong, dan solidaritas, mengarah pada ideologi nasionalisme. Para penulis menyoroti posisi yang tidak setara antara persatuan dan keragaman sebagai masalah krusial dalam narasi dan wacana buku teks yang, dalam derajat tertentu, bisa menjadi masalah laten bagi integrasi nasional, seperti intoleransi minoritas dan pemusnahan. The massive transformation towards digitalization has brought about many innovative media approaches in preaching, such as the emergence of preaching websites and other platforms. The ease and fast process of publication have resulted in diverse texts of preaching, each with its unique characteristics. One of these websites is muslim.co.id, which focuses on discussing the virtues of men and glorification. This research is a qualitative study utilizing the critical discourse analysis model proposed by Sara Mills. The findings of this study reveal that the choice of words or phrases used and the focus of several articles on the Muslim.co.id website tend to exhibit a strong patriarchal tendency. This is evident through the gender issues in the texts and the superiority of men. Gender issues identified in the analysis include the subordination of women, stereotyping, and neglecting. This study contributes to efforts to encourage the presence of egalitarian online religious media in accordance with religious (Islamic) principles that reject all forms of injustice. *** Transformasi besar besaran menuju digital memunculkan banyak inovasi media dakwah seperti hadirnya situs dakwah ataupun dalam platform yang lainnya. Kemudahan serta proses yang cepat untuk publikasi berdampak pada teks dakwah yang semakin beragam dengan keunikannya masing masing. Salah satu situs tersebut ialah muslim.co.id. Situs media dakwah tersebut mempunyai corak dakwah yang cukup konsen dalam membahas keutamaan laki laki dan glorifikasinya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan critical discourse analysis model Sara Mills. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa diksi atau kalimat yang dipakai serta konsen dari beberapa artikel yang ada di situs Muslim.or.id memuat tendensi patriarkal yang cukup lekat. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan objektifikasi perempuan dalam sebuah teks dan superioritas laki laki. Adapun isu gender yang dapat dideteksi ialah subordinasi perempuan, stereotiping, dan neglecting. Kajian ini berkontribusi bagi upaya mendorong hadirnya media keagamaan online yang egaliter sesuai dengan prinsip keagamaan (Islam) yang menolak segala bentuk ketidakadilan.

Using women's bodies in product marketing advertisements is nothing new. The female body is deliberately presented as a marketing strategy. In practice, it is not uncommon for women to be categorized into three trinities, namely, girl, wife, and entertainer. What's worse, this is justified and reproduced by various media. The Gadis Kretek novel is a literary work that juxtaposes the female body with cigarette advertisements. This research was conducted to uncover how women's bodies are selected, used, and displayed for marketing activities of cigarette products that are attached to men by society and become a symbol of masculinity. The method that will be used as a data analysis tool is Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis, which focuses on aspects of linguistic practice, discursive practice, and social practice. The results of this study indicate that in product promotion, the female body is used as a desire production machine that will attract potential buyers. This research is motivated by catcalling activity that commonly happened in Universitas Medan Area environment. Catcalling activity leads to a various perception of students. However some of them thought that catcalling was not a form of sexual harrashment. Otherwise, many of students thought that catcalling was a dissrespectfull behavior. The purpose of this research is to understand the students of Universitas Medan Area perceptions about catcalling activity and as well as any of the factors behind it. This research was conducted at Universitas Medan Area and the method of this research was qualitative descriptive. This research used S-O-R theory and semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Pierce. Data collected method of this research was interviews and observations. The result of this research shows that man and woman both can be a victims and perpetrator of catcalling and the various response towards catcalling activity like some of the subject feels outrage and bravely against the perpetrator and some of them not even care if being catcalled and also some of them are happy being treated or catcalled that way by stranger. Psikoterapi Islam merupakan salah teknik psikoterapi yang berkembang pesat saat ini, baik di Indonesia maupun di beberapa negara lainnya. Hal ini disebabkan tingginya antusiasme para ilmuwan untuk mengembangkan psikoterapi Islam serta tingginya antusiasme masyarakat untuk menggunakannya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan peluang dan tantangan psikoterapi Islam. Hal ini penting untuk membantu perkembangan psikoterapi Islam agar menjadi teknik psikoterapi yang lebih mapan. Dengan menggunakan metode kajian literatur dan berpikir reflektif, studi ini menemukan sejumlah peluang dan tantangan psikoterapi Islam. Peluang psikoterapi Islam adalah psikoterapi Islam menyasar pada berbagai aspek yang lebih komprehensif, berdasarkan teks keagamaan yang dianggap sempurna, serta tingginya animo masyarakat. Adapun tantangan psikoterapi Islam yaitu kualifikasi psikoterapis Islam dan etika psikoterapi Islam belum dirumuskan dengan jelas dan baku; rentan bersifat normatif dan cenderung penghakiman; berpotensi menyentuh ranah perbedaan pendapat (khilafiyah); menuntut individu menguasai ilmu ijtihad dalam memformulasikan psikoterapi Islam; terdapat sebagian hal yang kurang dapat diempiriskan dalam psikoterapi Islam; tantangan objektifikasi dan demistifikasi; ancaman objektivitas penelitian; serta kerentanan untuk terseret pada kepentingan tertentu. Sejumlah pihak terkait perlu menindaklanjuti peluang dan tantangan tersebut secara baik.

Teori Kritis Mazhab Frankfurt: Varian Pemikiran 3 (Tiga) Generasi Serta Kritik Terhadap Positivisme, Sosiologi, dan Masyarakat Modern

The Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School through its emancipatory vision requires a new paradigm in social science that can liberate humans from the economic domination of capitalism, various established ideologies, and social order that is oppressive and unfair. This article aims to: 1) review in detail the variants of Critical Theory thought developed by the first, second, and third generations of the Frankfurt School; 2) explain the criticisms of Critical Theory on positivism; 3) describe the criticisms of Critical Theory on Sociology; and 4) reviewing the criticisms of Critical Theory on modern society. By using a qualitative approach and library research design, as data mining techniques, this study concludes that: 1) There are differences of thought among the three generations of the Frankfurt School. The first generation has built the foundation of Critical Theory towards the ideas of emancipation while acknowledging the subject-object relation, as well as agreeing to objectification. Jurgen Habermas as the second generation through his communicative action theory framework answers the stagnation of the first generation by emphasizing his Critical Theory on developing the subject's argumentative capacity. The third generation of thought by Axel Honneth departs from ethical interests through recognition; 2) Critical Theory criticizes positivism for preserving the status quo so that it fails to get out of the existing problems and preserving these problems; 3) Critical Theory criticizes Sociology because it is considered ideological, neutral, passive, and too focused on methodology, thus failing to build public awareness to overcome unequal and unfair realities; 4) Critical theory states that modern society went through cultural repression, where certain social and cultural obligation was institutionalized by the capitalistic economy. Those capitalism ethics makes humans view other humans as things or objects. Abstrak: Teori Kritis Mazhab Frankfurt melalui visi emansipatorisnya menghendaki sebuah paradigma baru dalam ilmu pengetahuan sosial yang mampu membebaskan manusia dari dominasi ekonomi kapitalisme, ragam ideologi mapan, serta tatanan sosial yang penuh penindasan dan ketidakadilan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengulas secara rinci varian pemikiran Teori Kritis yang dikembangkan oleh generasi pertama, generasi kedua, dan generasi ketiga Mazhab Frankfurt; 2) menjelaskan kritik-kritik Teori Kritis terhadap positivisme; 3) memaparkan kritik-kritik Teori Kritis terhadap Sosiologi; serta 4) mengulas kritik-kritik Teori Kritis terhadap masyarakat modern. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain library research, artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa: 1) Terdapat perbedaan pemikiran diantara ketiga generasi Mazhab Frankfurt. Generasi pertama telah membangun fondasi Teori Kritis ke arah emansipatoris dengan tetap mengakui relasi subjek-objek, sekaligus mengamini objektifikasi dan kemudian mengalami kebuntuan pemikiran akibat terjebak dengan kritik yang mereka buat sendiri. Jurgen Habermas sebagai generasi kedua melalui kerangka teori tindakan komunikatifnya menjawab kebuntuan generasi pertama dengan menitikberatkan Teori Kritisnya pada pengembangan kapasitas argumentatif subjek. Adapun pemikiran generasi ketiga oleh Axel Honneth berangkat dari kepentingan etis melalui jalan pengakuan; 2) Teori Kritis mengkritik positivisme karena melanggengkan status quo, sehingga ia tidak mampu keluar dari permasalahan yang ada melainkan melanggengkan permasalahan tersebut; 3) Teori Kritis mengkritik Sosiologi karena dianggap bersifat ideologis, netral, pasif, dan terlalu fokus pada metodologi, sehingga gagal dalam membangun kesadaran masyarakat agar dapat mengadakan perubahan terhadap realitas yang penuh dengan ketimpangan dan ketidakadilan; 4) Teori Kritis menyatakan bahwa masyarakat modern mengalami represi kultural, yakni suatu kondisi di mana tuntutan sosial budaya tertentu dilembagakan oleh tatanan ekonomi kapitalisme. Prinsip kinerja kapitalis tersebut membuat manusia memandang yang lain sebagai benda (things) atau objek.

DEKONSTRUKSI KARAKTER DRUPADI DALAM PEWAYANGAN (STUDI GENDER DAN LIVING QUR’AN MENGENAI POLIANDRI)

One of the many evidences about the concepts of justice and gender equality in Islam can be seen in the creation of the plot and of a central female character in the Javanese puppet, namely Drupadi. This article employs a qualitative research with this literature study approach to determine the deconstruction character of Drupadi. The validity of the data is obtained by triangulating data sources and integrating data from journals and books about Drupadi characters in puppets, supported by analysis of gender studies and living Qur'an studies of the concept of polyandry. The results showed that there is a deconstruction of the character of Drupadi figures from the Hindu to the Islamic version. Drupadi, who is described in the Mahabharata story of having five husbands, in a Javanese puppet show, especially after the arrival of Islam, is described only married to Yudhistira. The deconstruction of Drupadi's character as a symbol of women is no longer objectified. Drupadi's new character reflects equality between men and women in Islam. Satu dari sekian bukti tentang adanya konsep keadilan dan kesetaraan gender dalam Islam bisa dilihat dalam pembangunan alur dan karakter tokoh perempuan sentral pada pewayangan Jawa, yakni Drupadi. Penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka ini, bertujuan untuk menentukan dekonstruksi karakter Drupadi di Wayang. Validitas data diperoleh dengan melakukan triangulasi sumber data, mengintegrasikan data dari jurnal dan buku tentang karakter Drupadi dalam wayang dengan berfokus pada analisis studi gender dan Living Qur’an mengenai poliandri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa telah terjadi dekonstruksi karakter tokoh Drupadi dari versi Hindu ke versi Islam; Drupadi dalam cerita Mahabharata melakukan Poliandri dengan 5 suami, dalam pewayangan Jawa setelah datangnya Islam hanya bersuamikan Yudhistira. Dekonstruksi karakter Drupadi menjadi simbol bahwa perempuan tidak lagi menjadi objektifikasi seksual. Karakter Drupadi yang baru mencerminkan kesetaraan antara pria dan perempuan dalam ajaran Islam.

The problem of sexual violence has become a sensitive issue that has attracted the attention of various groups of people. In addition, this action classifies as a criminal act that causes physical and psychological harm. Sexual violence happens not only to women's groups but also to subordinated minority groups in society, such as the LGBTQ+ group. In early 2021, to be precise, in France, a student and student activist experienced sexual aggression by a politician from one of the dominant political parties there. He tried to seek justice by making testimony through his Twitter account. Unexpectedly, his testimony uttered various reactions related to the social reality of society. This article aims to explore and analyze the social context and speech response patterns that represent that context. Multiple stories of netizens' responses to testimonies of sexual violence uploaded by the @TT_Guillaume account that occurred in 2018 became the object of the study of this article. In writing the article, the method used is reading all the responses in the reply section, recording all the answers found. Moreover, the next step is classifying dan analyzing the data found, which is associated with Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis theory. The research discovers that the social context of Guillaume's utterances was related to sexual violence in institutions in France and influenced the presence of other testimonies. This article aimed to identify how violent languages are operated for othering and disciplining the body as an exercise of power over the LGBTIQ groups in Indonesia. The analyzed violent language was taken from a conversation on Twitter that responds to Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast video with the title “TUTORIAL JADI G4Y DI INDO!!= PINDAH KE JERMAN (tonton sblm ngamuk) RAGIL AND FRED”. The issues of violence in language have been arising when the words used by Twitter accounts @cholilnafis, @anasabuabdillah, @mas_po_sanusi, @ridwan2474, @djoesa, @defrizonz, and @samsularifin000 are seen in a particular way in the context of their response to Deddy’s podcast video. This article shows that there is a process of othering and disciplining the body through the choices of words that contain elements of violence. Violent languages are operated to alienate others, as in the concept of “blaming others”. From Lozano and Laurent’s perspective, “blaming others” is accusing minorities under social inappropriateness instead of seeing their own fault. Meanwhile, the process of disciplining the body moves through violent languages that are associated with interpretation of Islamic discourse. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Opresi Berlapis Perempuan Etnis Tionghoa: Pemerkosaan Massal Terhadap Perempuan Etnis Tionghoa dalam Tragedi Mei 1998 di Jakarta

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai pemerkosaan massal terhadap perempuan Tionghoa dalam Tragedi Mei 1998 di Jakarta. Beberapa studi yang membahas kekerasan terhadap masyarakat Tionghoa dalam Tragedi Mei 1998 di Jakarta sedikit yang menaruh perhatian pada kekerasan terhadap perempuan Tionghoa (misalnya Purdey 2013; Siegel 1998; dan Tadié 2009). Beberapa penulis yang mencoba memberikan perhatian seperti Heryanto (2000) dan Wichelen (2000) masih melihat masalah itu dari satu aspek bahasan seperti kekerasan negara dan gender. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu dengan pemeriksaan dokumen yang relevan dan studi literatur, penelitian ini berargumen bahwa pemerkosaan terhadap perempuan Tionghoa merupakan peristiwa yang kompleks dan perlu dilihat dengan penjelasan yang lebih dalam. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peristiwa tersebut dengan konsep opresi atau kekerasan berlapis dengan menggunakan konsep kekerasan struktural, interseksionalitas, ideologi gender negara, dan pemerkosaan massal. Opresi berlapis terhadap masyarakat Tionghoa melihat bahwa posisi mereka yang kuat secara ekonomi namun lemah secara sosial-politik telah membangun akar sentimen masyarakat pribumi terhadap masyarakat Tionghoa. Situasi tersebut semakin rumit dengan adanya ideologi gender negara serta budaya patriarki masyarakat dalam memandang perempuan (konstruksi sosial keperempuanan sebagai simbol kehormatan dan objektifikasi dari tubuh perempuan).

Humor becomes an important part in institutionalizing the culture of pesantren. Yet, the humor in pesantren often ignores the values that respect gender equality. Understanding Islam pesantren patriarchy becomes the root for establishing the themes of humor that exploit women’s bodies and sexuality. Study of humor and sexuality in pesantren in Indonesia are still unnoticed. This study used a qualitative research approach with a feminist analysis in pesantren Priangan West Java. The results of this study showed that Islam patriarchy in pesantren institutionalized within the themes of humor created by kiai, teachers, and students in pesantren. As the implication, humor in pesantren contains the values and ideology of gender bias in the form of stereotyping, objectification, and the domestication of women. Dominant objects in pesantren humor are the body and female sexuality. The body becomes the center of worship and praise despite the epicenter definition, identity, and control on women by men. Humor menjadi bagian penting dalam pelembagaan budaya pesantren. Akan tetapi humor-humor di pesantren sering mengabaikan nilai-nilai yang menghargai kesetaraan gender. Pemahaman Islam pesantren yang patriarki menjadi akar pembentukan tema-tema humor yang mengeksploitasi tubuh dan seksualitas perempuan. Kajian humor dan seksualitas di lingkungan pesantren di Indonesia termasuk yang luput dari perhatian. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan analisis feminis di pesantren Priangan Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa patriarkisme Islam pesantren terlembagakan dalam tema-tema humor yang dibuat kiai, guru, dan santri di pesantren. Implikasinya humor-humor di lingkungan pesantren mengandung tata nilai dan ideologi bias gender berupa stereotip, objektifikasi, dan domestifikasi perempuan. Objek yang dominan humor di pesantren yaitu tubuh dan seksualitas perempuan. Tubuh menjadi pusat puja dan puji, tetapi menjadi episentrum pendefinisian, pemberian identitas, dan kontrol pada perempuan yang dilakukan laki-laki.

This article presents some fundamental matters in visual culture. Philosophy has been grappling with important issues of image and ocularcentrism. These matters have shaped and brought impacts on the world’s visual culture. On the one hand, an image with all its possible interpretations today tends to be captured as an object and not so much as something that is at the same time plural and moving. On the other hand, people’s way of seeing tends to be blurred by the ocularcentrism. This might be a crucial problem that brings significant implications on one of the most important aspects of human life, that is, art activity, and particularly on cinema. The author of this article invites the readers to be aware of the negative inclinations around the issues of image and ocularcentrism. Some of the important challenges in the cinematic world are how people continually reformulate their experience of an image and how the ocularcentrism character in our visual culture can be positioned in the heart of the matter. In an effort to respond to these challenges, one can approach philosophy in a different way in order to refresh his or her way of seeing that might have been tiresome and cloudy. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh jauhnya lokasi sekolah dari pusat perkotaan sehingga menyebabkan kurangnya informasi yang masuk ke sekolah ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan konstruksi sosial guru terhadap pembelajaran IPS, mendeskripsikan implementasi pembelajaran IPS di SD Inpres 6/86 Laburasseng, mendeskripsikan dampak pembelajaran IPS di SD Inpres 6/86 Laburasseng. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan model interaktif yakni pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa konstruksi sosial guru terhadap pembelajaran IPS berbeda-beda khususnya pada tahap objektifikasi dan terjadi pergeseran pandangan terhadap pembelajaran IPS yang ideal yang menyebabkan implementasi dari pembelajaran IPS menyimpang sehingga berdampak pada perilaku siswa. Berdasarkan hal tersebut disarankan agar guru-guru lebih aktif untuk mengikuti pelatihan-pelatihan serta diklat-diklat dan mencari informasi yang lebih banyak untuk menambah wawasan tentang pembelajaran IPS. The research was distributed by school location away from urban centres so that the cause of the lack of information coming into this school. The purpose of this study is to describe the social construction of teachers towards social science learning, social science learning implementation described in the primary presidential instruction 6/86 Laburasseng, described the impact of social science learning in the primary presidential instruction 6/86 Laburasseng. This research includes qualitative research. The technique of data collection conducted in-depth interviews with, observation and documentation. Analytical techniques in the study with the use of interactive models i.e., data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The research found that the social constructions of teachers towards social science learning are different in particular at the stage of objectification and shifting views of the ideal social science study which led to the implementation of the social science study distorted so that the impact on student behavior. So it is recommended that teachers more actively to follow training-training-training as well as training and are looking for more information to add insight into social science learning.
