The 1st English ed. consisted of 2 vols. only (published 1900-1902) and lacked the mammals section. Vol. 3 (published in 1925) lacks the "2nd ed." statement but is generally considered to be part of this 2nd ed. set, as v. 1 was published in 1913 and v. 2 in 1932. Vol. 2 called: Second English edition, revised, with additions, by Sir Arthur Smith Woodward. Vol. 3 revised by Max Schlosser; translated under the direction of Charles R. Eastman by Lucy P. Bush and Marguerite L. Engler; translation revised, with additions, by Sir A. Smith Woodward. |
