American Art News is an early name of a long-running art magazine, now known as ARTnews.
American Art News began in 1902 as "Hyde's Weekly Art News", and became "American Art News" in 1904. In 1923 it was renamed "The Art News", eventually shortening to "ARTnews". The first copyright-renewed issue is September 1944 (v. 43 no. 11). The first copyright-renewed contribution is from May 1949 (v. 48 no. 3). (More details) It is still published today.
