Graham's Magazine

Graham's Magazine was an American magazine of literature, music, and fashion, published in Philadelphia in the mid-19th century.

Publication History

Graham's Magazine began in 1840 as the merger of the Casket and Burton's Gentleman's Magazine. The first issue published under the Graham's name was dated December 1840 and numbered "volume 7, number 6", following the numbering of Burton's. Subsequent issues then followed the Casket numbering, so the January 1841 issue was numbered "volume 18, number 1". The full name of the magazine varied somewhat over time as well, but always went by Graham's. The magazine ceased publication in 1858.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1840: HathiTrust has volume 7, number 6 (the first issue published under the Graham's name), bound with the last issues of Burton's Gentleman's Magazine. The next issue would be published as the start of volume 18.
• 1841-1853, 1855, 1856: HathiTrust has volumes 18-43, 46, and 48, scanned from Harvard University and Indiana University.
• 1842-1856: HathiTrust has volumes 20-47 and 49, scanned from the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago.
• 1847-1850, 1852: Project Gutenberg has issue transcriptions of volumes 30, 32-37, and 41
• 1856-1858: HathiTrust has volumes 49-53, published as "Graham's Illustrated Magazine".
