The London Gazette is an official newspaper of record for the United Kingdom, published by H. M. Stationery Office It contains legal and government notices, including notices of military honors and awards.

Publication History

The London Gazette began publishing in 1665 as the Oxford Gazette, and moved to London the following year. It is still published today.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1900-1997: The Historic Archive claims to have much of the World War I and World War II period online, and honors and awards from much of the rest of the 20th century. Some recent content is available online by paid subscription as well. Unfortunately, as of early 2006 the web site only supports Windows Internet Explorer 5 or later. Other browsers might not see much.
