National Geographic began publication as the National Geographic Magazine in 1888. Issue copyrights have been renewed since before 1923. It is still published today.

- 1888-1889: The Internet Archive has volume 1.
- 1890: The Internet Archive has volume 2.
- 1891: The Internet Archive has volume 3.
- 1892: The Internet Archive has volume 4.
- 1893: The Internet Archive has volume 5.
- 1894-1895: The Internet Archive has volume 6.
- 1896: The Internet Archive has volume 7.
- 1897: The Internet Archive has volume 8.
- 1898: The Internet Archive has volume 9.
- 1899: The Internet Archive has volume 10.
- 1900: The Internet Archive has volume 11.
- 1901: The Internet Archive has volume 12.
- 1902: The Internet Archive has volume 13.
- 1903: The Internet Archive has volume 14.
- 1904: The Internet Archive has volume 15.
- 1905: HathiTrust has the December 1905 issue freely readable online. I am still seeking the other issues in Volume 16.
- 1906-1922: HathiTrust has volumes 17-42 freely readable online. Later volumes are searchable but not readable.
