It was published during the Civil War and in the three years following.

Publication History

The early volumes of The Rebellion Record: A Diary of American Events with Documents, Narratives, Illustrative Incidents, Poetry, etc. were published in New York by G.P. Putnam from 1861-1863. The later volumes were published by D. Van Nostrand from 1864-1868.
