This young adult novel is narrated by a young teen who finds herself losing her voice, and many of her friends, after a traumatic experience at a high school party. The story of her recovery, where she eventually gains the courage to reveal that she was raped and to confront her attacker, was a finalist for the National Book Award the year the book was published, and continues to be read and valued by many teens and sexual assault survivors a generation later.
