Subject:West Duluth Denfeld high school Forty-Fourth Avenue west; aerial view; football field and bleachers; houses; business district; snow; streets; ground broken for new Denfeld high school March 5, 1925 designed by Holstead and Sullivan; Denfeld student were in West Junior building from 1914 until this building was constructed; F. D. Knight president of Duluth school board; James F. Taylor was principal of Denfeld; the sophomore class was the first to graduate from the new building; this school was named for Robert E. Denfeld Duluth superintendent of schools for 33 years; construction of a public athletic stadium seating approximately 10,000 persons at Denfeld at Forty-sixth Avenue West and Fourth street, was announced by F. D. Knight, president of the board of education; located west of the Denfeld high school on property owned by the board; he said the field would be ready for the 1930 football season; no cost of the filed was announced but a previous estimate called for more than $90,000
