Subject:Lakeside Lester Park; Lakeside School students and teachers; boys and girls; Lakeside Elementary school was built and opened in 1893, it was by architectural firm German & Dewaard; In 1914 an addition was constructed and alterations made by Duluth architect F. W. German. Lakeside residents lobbied for a new school in March 1916 that resulted in a three-story, 21 room building and equipment that cost $130,237. Grounds included tennis courts, baseball field, a skating rink, running track, and basketball courts. The dedication was held April 2, 1918, with an address by Dr. M. L. Burton president of the University of Minnesota. The library, gymnasium, and auditorium were open to Lakeside residents. The Lakeside building is located on 1.29 acres at 4628 Pitt Street. The building has been occupied by St. Michael's Lakeside School since 1996
