Pueblo Governor Urges Remains Be Left Undisturbed.
Native American Law Digest. Jul2005, Vol. 15 Issue 7, p9-9. 1/4p.
This article reports that Mark Mitchell, the Governor of Tesuque Pueblo, New Mexico, has said that disturbing remains buried under the proposed site of a civic center in Santa Fe in New Mexico would be sacrilegious. Mitchell stated this in the newspaper "Albuquerque Journal." About six to eight human skeletal remains were discovered in an excavation last fall. The deputy director of the Museum of New Mexico's Office of Archaeological Studies told the newspaper that the city would try to find a respectful location for reburial and noted that the discovery of human remains has never been known to stop a construction.
