The article discusses the concept of seed libraries , in which gardeners check out plant seeds to use in their own gardens, save the seeds from the plants that they grow with the seeds and return them to the library for other gardeners to use. A discussion of a seed library which was initiated at the Fairfield Woods branch of the Fairfield Public Library in Fairfield, Connecticut in 2011 is presented. A discussion of the benefits that libraries and library patrons can obtain from seed libraries , and of laws associated with seed libraries , is presented. INSET: SEED LIBRARIES and state laws.
