Publication History

American Anthropologist began publication in 1888, originally under the auspices of the Anthropological Society of Washington. A new series began in 1899. From 1903 it was published by the American Anthropological Society (now the American Anthropological Association) and related societies. Some of the Memoirs of the American Anthropological Association were pubished in this journal or as supplements to it. No issue copyright renewals were found for this serial. The first copyright-renewed contribution is from 1953 (v. 55 no. 5). (More details) It is still published today.
