Country Reports on Human Rights Practices is an annual summary of human rights in countries around the world, submitted to the US Congress by the State Department.
Congress passed laws requiring the State Department to report on human rights abroad as part of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. This particular form of the reporting appears to have begun in the late 1970s. New reports are still issued annually.
