Illinois Blue Book

Illinois Blue Book is an Illinois state government information reference, issued every one or two years by the Illinois Secretary of State.

Publication History

The Illinois Blue Book traces its roots back to a private directory published for legislators in 1861. The first volume we know of titled the Blue Book of the State of Illinois is the volume for 1898. That title was used consistently starting in 1903. By 1951 it was officially titled Illinois Blue Book. No issue or contribution copyright renewals were found for this serial. (More details) It is still published today.

• 1898-2010: The Illinois Digital Archives has issues from 1898 to 2010, along with variously titled predecessor publications, free to read online.
• 1903-1928, 1931-1942, 1947-1950, 1953-1966, 1969-1978, 1981-1992, 1995-1996: HathiTrust has most issues from 1903 to 1996 freely readable online. Access to some volumes may be restricted outside the United States.
