International Index to Periodicals was an article index for specialized and international periodicals, with a focus on humanities and social sciences. published in the 20th century.

Publication History

International Index to Periodicals originated as a supplement to the Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature in 1913, indexing articles from 1907 onward. In 1920 it took on the International Index to Periodicals name, which shortened to just "International Index" in 1955. It was renamed Social Sciences and Humanities Index in 1966, which continued (in unified form or in the form of separate Social Sciences and Humanities indexes) at least as far as the 1980s. The first copyright-renewed issue is April 1940 - March 1943 (v. 9), © 1943. We know of no actively copyright-renewed contributions. (More details)
