Publication History

Natural History was founded in 1900 by the American Musuem of Natural History in New York as The American Museum Journal. (Issues under that name are listed separately.) In 1919 it was renamed Natural History, and continued the volume numbering established under the earlier name. The first actively copyright-renewed issue is January-February 1927 (v. 27 no. 1). The first actively copyright-renewed contribution is from March 1941. (More details) The magazine was sold in the early 21st century to a private company. It is still published today.
