The Red Man

The Red Man was a (usually) monthly periodical published at the Carlisle (PA) Indian Industrial School in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Publication History

There were two series of The Red Man. The first series began in 1885 in newspaper format and ran until 1900, when it merged with The Indian Helper to become The Red Man and Helper (which in turn ran until 1904). The second series began in illustrated magazine format in 1909 as The Indian Craftsman, and changed its name to The Red Man in the February 1910 issue. It ran until 1917, when it merged with Carlisle Arrow to become Carlisle Arrow and Red Man.
