Bulletin

The National Urban League's Bulletin reported on the activities and interests of the group in its early history. Issues varied in content, and included annual reports, summary pamphlets, and scholarly studies of African American urban social conditions.

Publication History

The League's first Bulletin was published in 1911, the year after it had been organized as the National League on Urban Conditions Among Negroes. It appears to have continued until 1922, after which it was succeeded by Opportunity and other Urban League publications.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1912-1913, 1915-1917, 1919, 1921: HathiTrust has a bound volume with volume 2, numbers 1-3 and 5; volume 4, numbers 2, parts of 4, and 5; volume 5, number 2; volume 6, numbers 2, 3, 5, and 6; volume 7, number 1; volume 8, number 4; and volume 10, numbers 1 and 2.
• 1913, 1915, 1916, 1919-1920: HathiTrust also has a bound volume with the 1912-1913 report (issue number unknown); volume 5, number 1; volume 6, number 4; volume 8, number 1; and volume 9, number 1. Issues in this bound volume represent annual reports of gruop activities.
• 1915: HathiTrust also has a separate copy of volume 5, number 1.
• 1918-1922: HathiTrust has volume 7, number 4; volume 8, numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5 (or 6?); volume 9, numbers 1, 2, and 4; volume 10, number 1; and volume 11, supplement to number 1. Issues are not bound in chronological order in this scanned volume.
• 1920: HathiTrust also has a separate copy of volume 9, number 1.
