Publication History

The William and Mary Quarterly began publishing under that title in 1944, succeeding the William and Mary College Quarterly Historical Magazine, which had begun in the 19th century. Issues of The William and Mary Quarterly are published as the "third series" of the journal as a whole. The first actively copyright-renewed issue is April 1946 (third series, v. 3 no. 2).
