Judith Herrin

Judith Herrin, emeritus hoogleraar klassieke en late oudheid, King’s College London (Verenigd Koninkrijk), krijgt de Dr. A.H. Heinekenprijs voor de Historische Wetenschap 2016 voor haar pionierswerk op het gebied van de oude culturen van de mediterrane wereld en het identificeren van de cruciale plaats van het Byzantijnse Rijk in de wereldgeschiedenis.

Judith Herrin, Emeritus Professor of Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at King’s College London (UK), will receive the 2016 Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for History for her groundbreaking research into Medieval cultures in Mediterranean civilisations and for establishing the crucial significance of the Byzantine Empire in history.
