Surgeon Rear-Admiral Thomas Tendron Jeans (1871–1938) was a doctor, and a decorated British Naval officer, who translated some of his experience into boy's adventure books. He set out to write juvenile fiction that correctly represented what life in the Royal Navy was like. (From Wikipedia)
