Lawrence W. Sherman (born 25 October 1949) is an experimental criminologist and police educator who defined the concept of evidence-based policing. Since October 2024 he has served as Chief Executive Officer of Benchmark Cambridge, a global police reform organisation. Between 2022 and 2024, he was Chief Scientific Officer of the Metropolitan Police at Scotland Yard; since 2007, he has served as the Wolfson Professor of Criminology and since 2017 as Professor Emeritus at the University of Cambridge Institute of Criminology.
