She is an adventure novel by H. Rider Haggard, the first of a series of stories featuring the character Ayesha, also known as "She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed".
Bibliographic notesShe first appeared in serial form in The Graphic beginning in 1886. The serial concluded in 1887, and the first book edition came out the same year. There have been many later editions, including ones illustrated by various artists, and ones that include revisions Haggard made to the text after its first publication.
