Othello

by William Shakespeare

Othello, subtitled "the Moor of Venice", is a tragedy by William Shakespeare on themes of race, deception, jealousy, and murder.

Bibliographic notes

As with Shakespeare's other plays, there is no "original" manuscript or author-supervised publication of Othello. It was first published in quarto in 1622, six years after Shakespeare's death, and was published the following year in the First Folio of 1623, with significance differences from the earlier quarto. Texts from these and other sources were used to create subsequent editions of the play.
