Troilus and Cressida is a play by William Shakespeare set in the Trojan War. Bibliographic notesAs with Shakespeare's other plays, there is no "original" manuscript or author-supervised publication of Troilus and Cressida. The play was first published in quarto in 1609 under the title The Historie of Troylus and Cresseida. It next appeared in the First Folio, published seven years after Shakespeare's death. Each of these two publications has lines the other version lacks, and there are also some changes in wording between versions. Later editions are based on these editions and other sources. See also |
