Love's Labour's Lost

by William Shakespeare

Love's Labour's Lost is an early comedy by William Shakespeare.

Bibliographic notes

As with Shakespeare's other plays, there is no "original" manuscript or author-supervised publication of Love's Labour's Lost. The earliest publication of the play known to exist was a quarto edition published in 1598, though there may have been an earlier edition that is now lost. The play was later included in the First Folio of 1623, published seven years after Shakespeare's death in a version that differs somewhat from the 1598 quarto version. Subsequent editions of the play may be based on these or other sources.
