King John

King John is a play by William Shakespeare set in the thirteenth century amid power struggles for the English crown.

Bibliographic notes

This play was first published in the First Folio of 1623, seven years after Shakespeare's death. Most later editions are based on that text, but modernize spellings and punctuation to at least some extent. Recent editions often also expand abbreviations or add implied stage directions.
