Henry IV, Part 1 is a play by William Shakespeare about the early reign of King Henry IV of England, and the maturation of his son and heir, Prince Hal.
Bibliographic notes
As with Shakespeare's other plays, there is no "original" manuscript or author-supervised publication of Henry IV, Part 1. It was first published in quarto form in 1598. The play was published in five more quarto editions before it was included in the First Folio in 1623. More recent editions may draw from these and other sources.
