Edward III is an Elizabethan era play on the reign of King Edward III of England. Many scholars now believe it was likely written in part by William Shakespeare. Bibliographic notesThis play was first published anonymously in 1596. It was not included in the First Folio of Shakespeare's plays, but is attributed at least in part to Shakespeare in some recent editions. Some scholars have held that Shakespeare did not write any of it, or that he wrote all of it, but more commonly it is considered likely to be the work of multiple authors including Shakespeare.
