De l'Esprit des Lois (often translated as The Spirit of Laws) is an influential political philosophy treatise by Montesquieu.
Bibliographic notes
De l'Esprit des Lois was first published anonymously in French in 1748, with the title spelled "De l'Esprit des Loix". The first English translation was published in 1750. It has been published in many other editions and translations since.
