Vindiciae Contra Tyrannos, sometimes known in English as "Defence of Liberty Against Tyrants" is a 16th century political tract, published under the pseudonym Stephanus Junis Brutus. Bibliographic notesVindiciae Contra Tyrannos was first published in Latin in Basel in 1579, though the imprint claimed an Edinburgh origin. It is not known for certain who wrote it, but scholars have variously attributed this work to Hubert Languet, Philippe de Mornay, or a collaboration of the two men. English translations were in circulation by the 17th century. See also
