Julius Caesar is Shakespeare's tragedy of the assassination of Julius Caesar, and its aftermath. Bibliographic notesAs with Shakespeare's other plays, there is no "original" manuscript or author-supervised publication of Julius Caesar. The earliest publication of the play known to exist is the First Folio of 1623, published seven years after Shakespeare's death. Subsequent editions of the play are largely based on this edition.
