Uncle Tom's Cabin

Uncle Tom's Cabin is an antislavery novel written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, published in the early 1850s. A best-seller, it popularized the abolitionist cause in the United States in the run-up to the American Civil War.

Bibliographic notes

Uncle Tom's Cabin was first serialized in The National Era beginning in 1851. In book form, it was first published in two volumes in 1852. A variety of popular editions, abridged children's editions, dramatizations, and other related works followed.
