The Decameron (Italian title: Decamerone) is a collection of 100 stories (with a framing story around them) written by Giovanni Boccaccio in Italian in the 14th century. Bibliographic notesBoccaccio is thought to have completed The Decameron around 1353. In English, some of the tales were translated as early as 1525, and a mostly complete English translation appeared in 1620. Many early printings were censored, but a complete uncensored translation appeared in English in 1886. See also |
