Bhagavadgītā

Bhagavadgītā, or Bhagavad Gita, is a Hindu poetic scripture, structured as a set of dialogues on philosophical and spiritual matters. It is part of the epic poem known as the Mahabharata.

Bibliographic notes

The Bhagavadgītā is believed to have been composed over 2000 years ago. It is written in Sanskrit, and traditionally consists of 700 verses arranged in 18 chapters. It has frequently been translated into other languages, with the earliest known full English translation made by Charles Wilkins and published in 1785.
