Re: about mein Kamp

Pedro et al:

This past week I rented a lengthy video documentary titled "Mein Kampf" that
consists of several hours of original film from the 1910 to 1945 period.

Last night I also read the first chapters of an online version of "Mein Kampf".

My reaction after watching the video and reading the first chapters of "Mein
Kampf" is one of shock that Adolf Hitler, Rudolf Hess (to whom Hitler
dictated "Mein Kampf" while they were in prison after the failed putsch),
Hermann Goering, Heirich Himmler all very opening indicated in the early
1920's that they wanted Germany to annex Austria and the Sudatenland and
that they wanted to exterminate the European Jews using poison gas.

Perhaps if more people read "Mein Kampf" in the mid 1920's there would have
been a more concerted effort to prevent Hitler and the rest of the thugs in
the National Socialist Party from taking control of the government.

My general feeling is that the more open the political discourse by all
members of society the less chance of extreme factions becoming disruptive
terrorists. Of course that is easier said than done since control of the
media and other power institutions factors into the process. New
technologies like the Internet should empower more people to give them a
political voice.
