I wholly agree with you on this John, swapping links to doubtful material is
not the purpose of the booklist (which continues to be very informative) at
all; the link was merely meant as an illustration. It is just a reality that
many, many texts are online, including ones that should, by law, not be
available for free. Resolving the copyright issue is one of the largest
problems the 'internet community' is facing. Many of the debates on the geek
site slashdot.org involve copyright issues as well, and recently some of
them have centered on public domain books (e.g.,
