I must object.

1.
I believe in unlimited distribution of my words unless I mark them
otherwise, which I sometimes actually do. . . .

2.
Some of these list moderators, most of whom I would like to consider
as my friends, actually go out of their way to stifle this kind of
communication between lists, while I get many duplicate postings
of things I regard as totally outside the purview of the lists.
[Sorry, I LOVE these lists, that's why I defend them against this]

3.
Even though I am pretty careful about cross posting, and usually
do so only a few times a year, other than the Gutenberg Newsletters,
I note that such cross postings are "held up in the mail". . .even
when it is obvious I want to say the same thing to more than one list.

Ok . . .enuf. . .I don't mean to lecture, and don't need to be lectured.

Thanks!

[Moderator: The post above summarizes some common user objections to the
Book People moderators' policy of discouraging crossposting of discussion
threads. (Crossposting of *announcements* can be appropriate, as can
notification on one list about discussion on another, but I'd rather not
have discussion threads continue across multiple mailing lists.)

In order to minimize on-list metadiscussion, this will be the
last post made in this thread on crossposting, unless I announce
any change to our policy. Listmembers with an opinion pro or con
on this policy, or on Michael's or my comments on it, can write to the
 Book People moderators at spok+bookpeople-request@[redacted]
Additionally, Usenet newsgroups are available for people who want
 "unstifled" communication with no restrictions on crossposting;
see http://www.usenet.org/ for information on these newsgroups. - JMO]
