I just installed FineReader and tried it out on a few pages.
It seemed to make considerably fewer errors than OmniPage -- maybe
half the number of errors, on the page I counted. The difference was
most notable on small footnotes.

It can recognize Greek and many other languages, but apparently it
can't figure out that a couple of words on a page are Greek. You
have to tell it that a text region is in Greek. It also didn't
handle breathing marks, etc.

It didn't recognize accents on roman letters, but then neither does
omnipage.

For some reason it decided that one of my pages would look better as
white text on a black background.

It has a nice set of save formats, including HTML UTF-8 for those
non-roman alphabets.
