Re: FineReader OCR

I have just ordered a copy of FineReader 5.0 after using demo versions
of 3.0 and 4.0. It is indeed the best OCR software that I have used.
It manages the small type in footnotes while most other programs return
just garbage. I have used Omnipage, and TextBridge.

FineReader will also convert text in many languages. Although not if
two or more languages are mixed on the same page.

It does have one problem that it shares with any other OCR program. If
you ask for any format other than plain text it will fill the document
with hundreds of unneeded codes. And although the text is all the same
size it will return many different type sizes.

The search for the perfect OCR program will continue
