What makes a DVD so special? Why can't you just buy a "DVD burner" as you can 
buy a CD burner? 

Well, DVD-ROM is the base format that holds data. DVD-Video or DVD defines
how video programs are stored on disc and 
played on a DVD-Video player (it's like the CD-ROM and Audio CD). 
Since a DVD compresses much more data (5 MB/sec) it needs a faster burning
system and Apple, I hear is bringing a 
DVD burner into the market soon.
