Plus a library can buy more than one "copy" of a title.

Just like with hard copies when a particular copy is checked out it is not
accessible to others until returned. Returning is easy as the item is
automatically returned when due, tho' patrons can return books earlier.

I imagine this can be very useful for schools with distance learning programs.
